Spread the love
Sad to say, the 4th installment of KAABOO Del Mar has come to an end. Over the course of the weekend over 60 music artists took to the stage and put on stellar performances for attendees of the fest!
The sold out show took place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and brought artists like: Post Malone, Foo FightersN.E.R.D, TLC, Alice in Chains, Katy Perry and even a few classics like Stone Temple Pilots, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Billy Idol joined the lineup.
The high humidity-heat index did not deter music lovers for gathering at the fest. In addition to the music there were also culinary demos, craft cocktails activations and brew lounges. Current festivals have become way more than a stellar music lineup, it is about the hospitality environment as well. One in particular that stands out from the rest was Blue Moon. Widely known for its lightly refreshing wheat ales, the company brought a new KAABREW to the fest this time around. The Tangerillo IPA, a full bodied lightly layered IPA which comes from their brewery in Colorado.
In addition to local brews and craft beverages such as Monkey Shoulder, there were a lot of enticing culinary options on site which fully made KAABOO an experience.
Classic group TLC hit the stage and brought everyone back to the 90s. In true fashion the dynamic duo played a ton of their classic hits and delivered a high energy performance. They have lightly been on the circuit so let’s hope we will see more of them soon!
“I would ask if y’all ready to turn up, but y’all already turnt up in this motherf*cka,” Wiz Khalifa exclaimed before diving into his bangers. Although his set was at 6PM this was just the start to an high energy evening. Taylor Gang chants filled the crowd as weed smoke filled the air, the attendees definitely proved they were fully here for Wiz Khalifa. His hour long set was full of fan favorites such as: Young Wild & Free, Taylor Gang, Work Hard, and more.
Katy Perry, unarguably the main attraction, shut down the 4th installment of KAABOO with a powerful statement. Attendees watched her in awe as she effortlessly belted high notes of almost acoustic ballads along with her crowd worthy favorites. Her 90 minutes set was full of excitement, and not to mention about five costume changes. Most of the crowd was swooning, in their feelings, and living for every moment of it.
Throughout her set she paid homage to her home state of California, paid a little respect to Janet Jackson, and even thanked a friend along the way. Her show came to an end with a touching ballad of Firework before turning it up a bit. Donning a rainbow robe she pranced across the stage as fireworks electrified the sky. This performance was nothing short of brilliant and just truly shows her range as an artist.
This year proved to be a breakthrough that they may have been waiting for. It’s a festival that caters to many demographics and the festival finally sparked a place for themselves in the festival circuit. A festival that may have been overlooked will be changing in the upcoming years.
