Boyz II Men and the San Francisco Symphony brought in the Winter holiday season with elegance and style. The two-night show held on December 17th and 18th  at Davies Symphony Hall, was a deeply moving and a memorable experience. The soulful harmonies of the Grammy Award-winning R&B group Boyz II Men sublimely enmesh with the conductor Edwin Outwater and the San Francisco Symphony. The essence of the illuminating sound seemed to touch the hearts of the audience, especially during the romantic ballads.

When Boyz II Men walked out from the side stage the entire audience roared with enthusiasm and cheer. Once the crowd settled down Shaw Stockman spoke with grace and enthusiasm suggesting the audience embrace the moment because it is one that will never return. He also encouraged the audience to engage with the rhythm, if anyone felt moved by the music to sway or dance when the inspiration rose to please do so. The entire group was extremely welcoming, engaging, and connected with the audience to empower and personalize the evening’s experience.

The first half of the show was filled with the nostalgic lyrics of: On Bended Knee; Water Runs Dry, I will Get There; The Color of Love; and Pass You By. Many of the audience members felt so moved by the music they stood up, held the one they loved, and began to sway while singing along.  For the second half of the show the trio thrilled the audience by singing: That’s Why I Love You, originally recorded by Major; Easy Like Sunday Morning, originally recorded by the Commodores; So Amazing, written by Luther Vandross and Marcus Miller; and I’ll Make Love to You, written By Babyface.  However, Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, and Shawn Stockman’s encore was the highlight of the evening where they sang, We Belong Together while handing out long stem red roses to all the ladies who walked up to the stage.

The ambiance of the event hall was also tantalizing to the senses, a blissful winter wonderland filled with garlands, wreaths, and beautifully decorated holiday trees. Throughout the lobby were many additional treats such as: delightful holiday desserts, a hot chocolate cart, and festive winter cocktails at the lobby bar. The room was filled with magic, joy, and many reminiscing about their favorite memories connected to the place and time they first heard their favorite Boyz II Men songs. Many audience members praised the collaboration and shared how they hope the future holds return events for the trio with the symphony.
